Research focus

  • New institutional economics
  • Areas of theory suitable for analysing the effects of particular institutional arrangements
  • Analysis of practical issues on the basis of research approaches that make use of existing findings from basic (mainly theoretical, but also empirical) research in a way that is (as far as possible) intersubjectively comprehensible in order to answer the question(s) at hand.

Recent projects

PhD project: What is the role and need for regulation of company housing in a ‘sensibly organised’ housing market?

The current research project deals with the current and potential role of company housing in the provision of housing. While company housing is currently primarily used for the acquisition of employees, factory housing was already being built by industrial companies in particular towards the end of the 19th century to create affordable housing. This study aims to examine the extent to which companies are currently rationalising the implementation of company housing and the associated opportunities and risks. The central question also includes the investigation of the integration of the provision of company housing into a state-subsidised area of housing provision and the analysis of the potential short-term relief of the housing market in conurbations through a subsidy. In particular, the possible need for regulation must be analysed.
