Research focus

Sigrun Langner specializes in intersectional landscape architecture and urban development, with a particular focus on the dynamic relationships between urban and rural spaces, referred to as “rurban landscapes.” She investigates the transformation of rural areas under urbanization pressures, develops sustainable planning concepts integrating ecological and social perspectives, and emphasizes mapping as a method for understanding complex spatial relationships. Her research also critically examines how rural imaginaries are addressed in urban and landscape planning.
